Head to the Valley

Holiday Valley, a quick 40 minute drive from Buffalo was recently ranked one of the top ski resorts on the east coast. Attracting skiiers from Canada, PA, and Ohio, Holiday Valley is a resource we at times take for granted. With some great events on the calendar this year, don't miss the fun this winter! From skiing, to shopping, to dining, to enjoying the crisp winter air, there is always something to do.
January
3-9 – Canadian Friendship Week (lift tickets, rentals and tubing at Par)
8-JI-II Empire Cup SL Edelweiss. Slalom racing for age 17-18 USSA Racers.
15 – Eastern Snowboard League. One leg of the cumulative 3-part series at select eastern resorts. Pro and Amateur divisions.
15-21 – Safety Awareness Week. Holiday Valley guests and employees are reminded about safety on the slopes with special contests, signs and events.
16-JIII Cup West SL Edelweiss. Slalom racing for age 13-14 USSA Racers.
22-23-Cleveland Metro Racing Cindy’s. Welcome Cleveland racers!
27 – Cabin Fever Fest I. Specially priced lift tickets on sale at participating shops in Canada and US.
29-30-USASA Boardercross Snoozer. Exciting head to head competition as 4 racers make their way down through banked turns, over jumps and around gates.
30-NFSC JIV-JV GS Edelweiss. GS racing for USSA racers ages 8 to 12.
February
5-6-Freestyle B Meet. Moguls and slopestyle competition for USSA Freestyle competitors.
6 – Park X Kids age 12 and under try their first rail jam.
12 – Boarding for Breast Cancer. Snowboarders unite to help raise awareness about breast cancer and raise funds for local breast cancer support groups.
25-Telestock. Try telemark skiing for the first time with tips from some pros, a fun race and cookout.
26 – Penguin Paddle. Fundraiser for Holiday Valley’s Adaptive Ski Program includes an auction, giant barbeque and the races where folks slide down the hill “penguin style”.
26-27-USASA Slopestyle. USASA Snowboarders and skiers are invited to compete in the big 42/78 park on rails and over jumps.
March
1-2 – BOCES Winter Carnival at Tubing Park. Special ed classes throughout Cattaraugus and Allegany counties enjoy a day at the Holiday Valley Tubing Company.
5-6 – JIV States. Slalom and GS racing for USSA skiers age 11-12.
6- Kandahar Championships. A great tradition of fun competition for USSA racers up to age 14.
12-13- Winter Carnival. Fun for all with races, parades, costumes, music and craziness.
15 – Cabin Fever Fest II. Specially priced lift tickets on sale at participating shops in Canada and US.
19- Guns and Hoses Snowmakers Race. Snowmakers from the Western New York region compete by skiing through gates while carrying snowmaking equipment.
19 – Big Bump, bottom of Yodeler. Freeskiers and snowboarders will compete on a giant feature built at the bottom of Yodeler.
20 – Northwind Super G. A Super G race for all ages.
26 – Pond Skimming Party. Spring party with fun music, food and skimming across and ice water filled pond.
26 - Bump or Burn. A dual format mogul competition open to all.
27-Slush Cup. End of the year USSA race.
April
10 – Last day of the season, golf course opens weather permitting
16 – Hike the Park session. Enjoy the spring sunshine, special features and laid back atmosphere of this after-season annual event.
