More about the Naval & Military Park

While the World Junior Hockey Championship brings together the best hockey players in the world under age 20, the Buffalo & Erie County Naval & Military Park brings together the best military memorabilia in the Western New York region. Founded in 1976, the Naval & Military Park is the largest inland naval park in the country and proudly stands as a tribute to all men and women who have served in the armed forces, with special emphasis on Western New York veterans. Attracting some 50,000 visitors annually, the Park is the Buffalo waterfront’s anchor tourism attraction and adjacent to a public esplanade lined with eight monuments to veterans of various wars and the site where vigils and remembrances are held. In addition to the military memorabilia on display, dating back to the Civil War, visitors can tour the national historic landmark destroyer U.S.S. The Sullivans; the World War II submarine U.S.S. Croaker; and the only guided missile cruiser open to the public in the United States, the U.S.S. Little Rock.
