Writers, Artists, Musicians (WAM)
NOMAD Art & Literary Magazine, and Buffalo band, Free Henry! are celebrating Buffalo's cultural scene by bringing you WAM!
WAM, a monthly Writers/Artists/Musicians' creative mixer showcases Buffalo talent & encourages conversation and collaboration.
With a focus on live & local, WAM features new performers and artists at each event.
Guests are invited to participate in the "Community Painting Project" and mingle with representatives from local arts organizations.
The "Community Painting Project" is put together by Nomad creator, Erica Eichelkraut. Photographs of Buffalo icons taken by Eichelkraut then are enlarged, gridded and cut into small squares which are then selected by participants, re-created and translated onto a large canvas. The end result is a 2’x3’ mosiac painting of a Buffalo image created by 216 locals. In total there will be over 2100 participants producing ten painting. The collection will then be auctioned off to pray the production of a 2010 NOMAD collective hardcover book, representing Buffalo art and literary talent.
You can be a part of the project by visiting WAM/Nomad Magazine's homepage or Twitter site for updates as to where the project will be set-up and when. Catch it at every WAM event, the last Wednesday a month. Simply paint a two-inch square to be a part of this project.
