Hunter's Day of Hope for Children

Pro Football Hall of Fame Member and former Buffalo Bills Quarterback Jim Kelly, his wife Jill, and the Hunter’s Hope Foundation, will host the 14th Annual Hunter’s Day of Hope for Children on Saturday, February 11, 2012 at the Buffalo Bills Healthy Zone Fieldhouse in Orchard Park, NY. This FREE community event is scheduled from 1:00PM - 4:00PM and includes food, activities and entertainment for the whole family.
Hunter’s Day of Hope for Children is celebrated in conjunction with the birthday of the Kelly’s son, Hunter (February 14, 1997 – August 5, 2005), which he also shares with his dad, Jim. The Kelly family established Hunter’s Hope after Hunter was diagnosed with Krabbe Leukodystrophy, an inherited, fatal, nervous system disease. This free, family event supports an important part of the Foundation’s mission – to encourage parents and families to thank God for the precious gift of children.
“It’s all about the kids - it’s that simple,” shared Jim Kelly. “Having Hunter, my son, born on my birthday was one of the greatest gifts I ever received. Jill and I want to encourage parents to celebrate that gift, the gift of their children.”
Hunter’s Day of Hope for Children is a celebration of love, prayer and thanksgiving as well as a thank you from Hunter’s Hope to the Western New York Community for its continued support toward helping children suffering all over the country. This free event includes bounce houses, music, dancing, games, face painting, refreshments and more for all guests.
“My favorite part is the children performing on stage,” remarked Jill Kelly. “It’s awesome to see children entertaining children – encouraging them to be who they are and share their special God given gifts and talents. It’s why we celebrate – because He made each and every one of our children special.”
This year’s event will also highlight Hot Chocolate with God: Just Me and Who God Created Me to Be, an interactive book for ‘tween girls written by Camryn Kelly with Erin and Jill Kelly. Hunter’s Day of Hope for Children will close with a signing of the book by the Kelly girls.
Through the support of many area businesses and organizations, Hunter’s Hope is able to provide guests with entertainment, food, games, activities and prizes, all free of cost. This year sponsors include the Buffalo Bills, Entercom Buffalo, Frito-Lay, Ohlson’s Bakery & Café, Pepsi Bottling Co., Sahlen’s, Rosina Foods Inc., Wendy’s Restaurants and more. Main stage entertainment will feature Nickel City Reptiles, Rince Na Tiarna and Master Khechen’s Martial Arts and Fitness Academy amongst others! About the Hunter’s Hope Foundation
The Hunter’s Hope Foundation was established in 1997 by Jim Kelly and his wife Jill, after their infant son, Hunter (February 14, 1997 – August 5, 2005) was diagnosed with Krabbe Leukodystrophy, an inherited fatal nervous system disease. While Jim and Jill have been blessed with the opportunity to share Hunter’s story and the hope of the Foundation named after their son all over the world – their greatest passion is to bring encouragement and hope to families in the midst of suffering. The Foundation’s mission and focus is threefold: to fund research necessary to treat and cure Krabbe Disease as well as other devastating leukodystrophies, increase newborn screening standards across the United States to obtain early detection and treatment for all treatable diseases, and ultimately Hunter’s Hope exists to inspire all parents to thank God for their children.
